Pepper is a very common ingredient, and pepper seeds are easy to get. But some people don’t know how to grow pepper seeds. Generally, they are grown in a greenhouse with a vegetable seeder machine. Today i will tell yo how to plant it by yourself at home.
Germination planting
Promoting germination can shorten the time and keep seedlings neatly, and it needs disinfect when soaking seeds.
Common soaking method
Put 50 ~ 55 ℃ warm water in clean small pots, the amount of water is 5 times the volume of seeds. Immerse the seeds in warm water and keep stirring. When the water temperature drops to 30 ° C, stop stirring.
Soak for 8 ~ 12 hours, so that the seeds absorb enough water, then drain the water, wrap it with a wet towel, and place it in a pot to promote germination. This method is called warmsoaking, and it has a bactericidal effect on pepper scab and sclerotinia.
Soak the seeds with water for 5 to 6 hours
then soak them in a 1% copper sulfate solution for 5 minutes or soak the seeds in 150 times of formalin (40% formaldehyde) for 15 minutes, and then remove them. Rinse with water. This method prevents the pepper from getting sick.
The third method is to soak the seeds in clean water for 4 hours, and then put them in a 10% sodium phosphate solution for 20 to 30 minutes. You can also soak the seeds in 2% sodium hydroxide solution for 15 minutes. This will inactivate the virus on the seeds.
The temperature requirement
The germination temperature of pepper is 30 ℃. During the germination process, the seeds should be turned frequently, rinsed with warm water every day to make the temperature uniform.
The seeds can be sown when the buds reach 60% to 70% after 4 to 5 days. The temperature of germination can be controlled by using an incubator or by placing the seed bag next to the stove. But you can not roast the seeds to keep the temperature and humidity uniform. After the buds have emerged, the temperature can be reduced to between 5 and 10 ° C.
